Margaret Loy Bachman
Margaret Loy Bachman, beloved mother and friend to us all, passed away September 10, 2020 at the age of 95. She died of natural causes in her home in Downers Grove. She loved living in her home near family and friends. While she was 95 years old physically, she was forever young at heart and had the mind and energy of someone decades younger.
Margaret grew up in Downers Grove and met the love of her life, Walter W. Bachman, while they were working at AT&T in Chicago, IL. They were members of the Windy City Ski Club and spent their free time attending the theatre, exploring the many museums and restaurants in Chicago, cycling, golfing, cross-country skiing, and enjoying the outdoors. Throughout her life Margaret was deeply committed to the Catholic Church.
Margaret was a connector who united family and friends closely together. She accepted people without judging them and made them all part of her family. She was always upbeat and positive. She never forgot a birthday or a graduation. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and make friends with anyone, anywhere. She loved playing games and entertaining. She and Walter were inveterate golfers, bridge players and travelers. Some of the most special times she spent with Walter and her children as a family, even when her children were grown, were to take family reunion trips to the great national parks in the USA.
Margaret, more than anything else, was a happiness giver. She gave happiness and gave of herself. Over the years family members and close friends would receive cards, and often surprise boxes. They came on Halloween, Valentine's Day, and Easter. Easter surprise boxes always included Peeps, her favorite candy. The packages were her way of saying "I love you." "I care about you."
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brett Bachman and Elisbeth Challener; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne Bachman and Randy Feiglstok; her sister Agnes Lifka; her dear friend and companion, Karen Lesniak; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her other siblings, Joan, Reed, Erwin/Bucky, and Raymond/Butch Loy.
Margaret will be missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to SEASPAR (the South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation; website: seaspar.org.) in Downers Grove, IL, in her memory.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held later this year in Downers Grove, IL.

I miss our late night phone calls so much. Marg always was my sounding board when I needed to vent or cry about anything. Through the years, she taught me so much. Love you always. Aggie
