Hank was always my hero, since we share the same birthday (different years) and a great love of baseball. The poster of his 715th homer hung in my bedroom for years. The Braves were blessed to have three of the greatest gentlemen and role models the game has ever known- Phil Niekro, Dale Murphy, and Hank Aaron. I am praying that God takes Hank quickly to heaven- Mr. Aaron, I hope we can play catch some day in Heaven, If I make it!

To the family, many, many friends, colleagues and legions of fans of this wonderful man, where he was a Hall of Fame slugger for the Braves who held the Major League Baseball career home run record for 33 years. Mr. Hank Aaron was known to have tied Ruth’s record with his first swing of the 1974 season, and he hit his 715th home run April 8, 1974, at the advanced baseball age of 40, to take sole possession of the record. That is the legacy Mr. Hank Aaron left behind memorable in his baseball career that will not be forgotten. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with loss the of Mr. Hank Aaron. May his legacy keep his memory alive forever.

Mr. Aaron was my first sports hero, and the only jersey of an athlete I’ve ever had is his #44. I was thrilled beyond words as an 11 year old when he broke the home run record, and my respect and admiration for him only grew over the years. He is a life hero, and I am grateful for the example he set. To the greatest baseball player that ever lived, thank you and Rest In Peace.

I have a wonderful memory that I will always cherish! In the seventies I was in charge of a special event at Lazarus department store in Columbus, Ohio. I started the day enjoying breakfast with Mr. Aaron and he asked me to look for a charm for his wife because he enjoyed buying her charms in the cities that he visited. So by the time we had dinner, I was so embarrassed because I tried so hard and could not find that charm! It was a long time ago but I will never forget his kindness and for all that he accomplished, he was such a grounded man!! Thank you Hank and bless your family!! Nancy

My father (1931-2019) told me that when he told his father (1892-1967) that the greatest hitter he ever saw was Ted Williams, my grandfather replied, "You never saw the Babe, kid." We all saw a great deal of Henry at Busch Stadium, and, before my time, at Sportsman's Park. And I tell my son that the greatest I will EVER see is Henry Aaron (with my childhood, personally autographed photo of Stan Musial hanging on my wall).

Our deepest condolences to the Aaron family. Thank you for sharing him with us in St. Louis (even when it hurt, which was a lot), and with the rest of baseball and America. And thank you, Henry, for all you did for the greater good.

PS - Henry, would you pass on howdies to Stan, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, and especially Curt Flood up there in baseball heaven?

Henry was my childhood hero and I have followed his career for 54 years. Such a class act who never bragged and never showed bitterness. It was amazing how he handled the hate and prejudice, and how he was able to enjoy his later years and become recognized not only as a great player but as a great person. An excellent, consistent baseball career from a man who was humble, did things the right way and will be sorely missed.

I watched Hank Aaron play baseball from 1967-1974 when he left Atlanta. I was there and photographed HRs 709, 713, (brought my 3 kids to that one) and 715! And in his last game as a Brave --HR 733! Many others as well in the late1960s and 1970's. I saw Ted Williams play in Boston as a boy, and Hank Aaron as a man. Doesn't get better than that for a baseball fan.

Yes I met him a few times as well. The last time in 2004 at an autograph show in Orlando. I was late and Hank was in the back room getting ready to close the signing. He graciously allowed me in for a private moment and signed my photo of HR 713.

His quiet competence and grace on and off the field remains the standard. No one close. Even my beloved Ted Williams.

Rest in Peace, Hammer.

Growing up without the opportunity to watch games on tv, my idolizations grew from reading the backs of baseball cards, box scores in the paper, and books from the library. Hank was so special to our family. My husband, Len Roberts, worked with him while my husband was CEO of Arby’s. We became friends with Billie and Hank.

Our daughter Dawn had been hit by a car while walking. One day Hank called my husband and asked if he could go visit Dawn. He went to the hospital with a box of his autographed baseballs and walked Dawn around in her wheel chair as she pointed to all the health care workers who had been taking care of her. He gave each one of his signed baseballs. Dawn fully recovered and a few years later he came to Dawn’s wedding.

He is my hero as much for his heart as much for his great baseball career.

Threatened then acclaimed for breaking Babe Ruth´s career HR record, he still holds more important records for RBIs and Total Bases. Unlike many public figures today, he just did his job and served his public with little complaint and utmost class and humility in uniform and afterwards.
