Beverly S. "Bev" Fort, 72, of DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Berwyn and Downers Grove, Illinois, died early Saturday morning, June 19, 2021, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.
Beverly Sue Fort was born December 29, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Miles and Elaine (Trnka) Fort. She was a 1967 graduate of Morton East High School in Cicero Illinois. Bev was employed by Commonwealth Edison a utility company in Chicago from 1967 until retirement in 2002. She held a variety of clerical and billing support functions with increasing responsibility throughout her career.
While in Illinois, Bev was a member of the First Congregational Church of Berwyn. She was very special to her family and was affectionately known as Auntler. Bev's laugh was unforgettable. Her warm personality made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Gifts and food were how she showed her love and she loved hard. Bev will be remembered for her generosity and sense of humor. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed looking for the next bargain-both for her and her loved ones. Auntler also had a special love for dogs and enjoyed visiting and dog sitting Sadie and Presley Vopatek.
Surviving are her sister, Daun Vopatek, her nephew and niece, Michael and Rachael Vopatek and her grandnephews, Porter and Vaughn Vopatek all of DeWitt.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents.
A family service was held at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa, with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to Clinton Humane Society in Clinton, Iowa.
