John Charles Clark
John Charles Clark, age 77, passed away on Thursday February 13, 2020. John was born in Lakin, KS and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Lakin High School in 1960. In 1965, John earned his degree in Music Education from Fort Hays State University. On April 9, 1967, John married his beloved wife and soulmate, Darleyne Lavonne Clark. In his lifetime, John worked as a District Manager for Kmart prior to establishing his own company JC Remodeling of Downers Grove, IL in 1979 that would continue to be a successful business for 30+ years.
John is survived by his wife, Darleyne, of 52 years; son, Mark; brother, Dennis; three sisters, Betty Lou, Maryellen, and Becky; grandchildren Jacob, Madison, and Kyle; Katherine, who he loved like a daughter and her 3 sons Jonathon, Kade, and Ashton, who he loved as grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack; mother, Mildred; and brother, BJ.
John thoroughly enjoyed his work in remodeling and spending time with his family. John had a great love for music and sang beautifully. He was a member of the West Towns Chorus; a chapter of the Chicagoland Barbershop Harmony Society. He also sang bass in a barbershop quartet. John had a love for antique cars which he shared with his son Mark, and his oldest grandson Jacob. One of John's most memorable pastimes was the Fourth of July. Every year on this day John drove his Model T in the Hinsdale, Downers Grove, and Lisle parades. This was a tradition he shared with his wife Darylene, son Mark, grandson Jacob, and his only granddaughter Madison. This is a memory that his family will cherish forever. John was a loyal, loving, and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was patient and kind. He sang the best lullabies to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A memorial service to honor John will be held at the Clark Family gravesite in Lakin, KS in the near future.
