Not sure what to say?

Marty and Nancy, I have been away and am only learning now of John's passing. My prayers are with you as you adjust to this loss. I remember John as a stalwart trustee at Judson University who actually read and understood the financial reports. He was was a velvet battleship who got to the point quickly but always was smooth and direct. I am grateful for the wisdom he shared with me and with Judson. We are richer for having John Smith as a part of our lives. I pray you will experience many good memories as you grieve his death.

My deepest sympathies to the Smith family. I am sorry that I could not make the celebration of John's life on Saturday. I hired John at Glenbard South years ago and it was one of my best hires ever. He gave so much of his time to the student athletes at South and his impact was huge. We are all better just for knowing John and he will be greatly missed.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Coach John Smith, I was fortunate to know him over these last couple of years through my nephew, Marco and my brother Bill, both worked with John at Glenbard South. In that short time we made a connection and I realized how special this man was to so many people. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers to the family,

Our feelings are terribly hurt about John. He will be truly missed, but we understand that a good person like John is needed in Heaven. John was such a caring, nurturing, understanding, humble and soft-spoken person. As a former parent of Glenbard South H.S. my son (Football player) and I were very upset about something. John saw how upset we were and quickly rushed to comfort us. My son and the other Football players/students just loved and adored John. His presence alone made things better in my son's life and made people better. The day I met him, I was upset, but after John spoke a few soft words to us, we had peace and joy again. John was a real gift to this world and to everyone who came in contact with him! He will be missed, but never ever forgotten. May our heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers comfort family and friends during this difficult time.
