Trey Ring Obituary

Trey Robert Ring passed away on Wednesday, January 7th, in Alto, Texas, at the age of 26. Trey was born in Bethlehem, PA, on February 24, 1999, at 7:06am to Lisa Mary Ring and his biological father. In 2008, Trey and his siblings, Grier and Taliesin, were legally adopted by John Robert Ring.

As a child, Trey lived with his family in several locations - Nazareth, PA, Jim Thorpe, PA, Millen, GA, Savannah, GA, and Richmond Hill, GA. Trey graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 2017 with pride in his four years as a JROTC cadet. He was also proud of competing in drill competitions as a member of the JROTC Drill Team.

Trey served his country proudly, enlisting in the U.S. Army as a Forward Observer prior to graduating high school. He completed his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and completed AIT at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, with the 3rd Cavalry Regiment. In 2018, Trey deployed to Qayyarah Airfield West(Q-West) for nine months. Trey discharged from the U.S. Army with a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal with Campaign Star.

After his military service, Trey advocated for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Above service to his country, Trey fought proudly for the men and women he served with throughout his enlistment and deeply valued the relationships he established. Trey was a member of the American Legion.

In recent years, Trey had returned to Texas. As a little boy, Trey had always wanted to be a cowboy. He loved animals, open sky, and the freedom of the great outdoors. When he met his fiancé and her boys, had a beautiful baby girl, and lived on a farm in his beloved Texas, Trey was living his dream. He also loved his job and coworkers at Duplichain Contractors. In his downtime, Trey enjoyed playing with his kids, fishing trips, and spending time with his wide network of family, friends, and community.

Trey was a gentle and unassuming man with a sly sense of humor. While he had an easy-going personality, he was also fiercely protective of his family and friends and never backed down from a fight. Those who knew Trey loved him for his kindness, compassion, strength, and dark sense of humor. His fellow service members knew they could count on him in their time of need, and he on them.

Trey did not return from Iraq unscathed. His PTSD combined with his personal demons, led to some dark times. Advocating for veterans and being there for his friends helped him through some rough periods. His intense love for his daughter, fiancé, and family members also brought him joy. Trey deeply valued his friendships and the brotherhood of service. Trey's desire to protect those he loved meant he had a pain and a depth that could not be reached by others. Trey did know he was truly loved. His passing creates a void that will never be filled and he will never be forgotten.

Trey is survived by his grieving family: Daughter, Adelaide Georgia Ring; Fiancé, Kynzie Germany and sons, Aaron and Aiken Foster, all of Alto, Texas; Mother, Lisa Mary Ring (Carfiro) of Bluffton, SC; Father, John Robert Ring of Hilton Head Island, SC; Sister, Grier Elizabeth Ring (Jamerio) of Savannah, GA; Sister, Taliesin Jane Starr (Cooper) of Atlanta, GA; Brother, Wyatt Aleksander Ring of Charleston, SC; Grandparents, Marlene Kocher (Hoffman) and Richard Kocher of Hilton Head Island, SC, Glenn and Virginia Boerstler of Nazareth, PA and Sherry Sentiwany of White Haven, PA.

Trey was preceded in death by his cherished dogs, Georgia and Annabelle Leigh (Belle), who brought him love and companionship throughout their lives. Trey will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

There will be a memorial service held for Trey on February 24 at 1:00PM (Veterans Memorial J.F. Gregory Park, Richmond Hill, Georgia).
