Evelyn M. Hettinger

Evelyn M. Hettinger, 96, of Palos Park, formerly of Lemont, died January 18 at Palos Hospital in Palos Heights.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, and her parents, Conrad and Catherine Tasharski, her brothers, Raymond and Charles, her sister, Bernice Kettman (George) and nephew, Charles Tasharski, Jr. (Dana). She is survived by her nieces, Laurie Driscoll (Paul), Carole Ripplinger (Dan) and nephews, Gordon Kettman (Dottie), Robert Schaeffer (Annie) and numerous friends.

She was an accomplished musician who managed her own orchestra, performing in many venues throughout the metropolitan area. Evelyn was also well known in the area as an excellent piano teacher who over a 70 year career taught hundreds of students, in some cases several generations of the same family. Each holiday season she took her students to several retirement homes to entertain the residents and was also a former member of the Women's Board of South Suburban Hospital.

A private internment occurred at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Lemont with a celebration of her life planned in the pandemic-free future. Memorials may be made to Misericordia Homes, 6300 N Ridge Avenue, Chicago, IL 60660 in her honor.
