Elizabeth Gohdes

Born: March 24, 1937

Died: December 3, 2020

Elizabeth "Liz" Gohdes died peacefully in her sleep December 3, 2020 at the age of 83.

Liz was born on March 24, 1937 and grew up in West Point, Georgia, later moving with her siblings to Chicago in the 1950's. She married the love of her life, William "Bill" Gohdes in 1971 and settled in Indian Head Park (IHP), Illinois, where they shared a life together of 45 years until Bill passed away in 2016. Throughout their marriage, Liz and Bill travelled the world enjoying the culture, history and adventure of experiencing new places and meeting new friends along the way. Spending time with family was most important to them.

Early in 2020, Liz moved to the Bay Area of California to live close to her daughter, Lynne and niece, Sharan who was like a daughter to her. Sadly, Liz became ill and just 10 months later, on the eve of Bill's birthday, she took her last breath with Lynne and Sharan by her side.

Liz is survived by daughters: Lynne (Gohdes) Gillan of San Francisco, CA; Sue(Gohdes) Solum of Platte City, MO; Carol (Gohdes) Halle of Colorado Springs, CO; her dearest niece, Sharan Ross of San Ramon, CA; granddaughters: Georgia and Phoebe Gillan, Isabel and Summer Halle, and grand niece Dominique Hardiman and many more nieces and nephews, grand and great.

When the time is safe for a memorial service one will be held in Liz's honor at Grace Lutheran Church of Western Springs, Illinois, of which Liz and Bill were devout members and a constant support of their faith and love.

Liz was a spitfire and one of a kind. I was happy to call her a friend as we had fun going to dinner, bunch and the gambling boats. She loved her Bill and so glad they are together at last! RIP Liz!
