Steven M. Kenyeri
Steven M. Kenyeri, 48, of Lemont, IL, formally of Sandwich, IL, passed away at home on February 11.
Steven was married to Mary Nugent in 1993 and they had 4 children; Stephen, Dakota, Jordyn, and Shelby together. They moved to Mary's former childhood home in Sandwich in 2002 and raised their family there for 13 years.
Steven was a truck driver by trade but his true passion was wrestling. He was a 1997 Graduate of Lemont High School. Steve coached wrestling for 20 years and over the course of years impacted 100's of athletes with his kindness and loving coaching style. He was happiest on the mat and spent many, many hours working endlessly with wrestlers just because he wanted to. Most of his years coaching were spent at Kaneland for the Knights Wrestling Club where he always enjoyed coaching his own children and all the little wrestlers that came into the room. Those days were really Steve's best days. He most recently was the head wrestling coach for Marquette Academy in Ottawa, IL and challenged himself to raise their wrestling team to become the best it could be. Steve also was a IHSA wrestling official for many years and forged many lifelong friendships with fellow officials.
Steven's free time was usually spent with his family and often involved road trips to their cabin in Crivitz, WI, where his hobby of fishing and collecting old fishing tackle fit right in. Many a days were enjoyed along the rivers edge just relaxing and bird watching and visiting the neighbors.
Steven is survived by Mary, his wife of 24 years; and his children, Stephen and Jordyn. His parents, Stephen and Susan (Muller); a sister, Kimberly (Gus) Badillo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Steven is preceded death by two of his beloved children, Dakota and Shelby. And his grandparents, Steve and Sophie (Ciegalski) Kenyeri and Mike and Helen (Schumacher) Muller.
