Nina Naomi Ohrenberg

Nina Naomi (Martin) Ohrenberg, age 84, born on March 2, 1932 in Quaker, MO passed away on July 6, 2016 in Willowbrook, IL. The ninth of nine children of Lewis A. Martin and Pearl M. (Neely) Martin.
A memorial service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church in Clarendon Hills, IL, on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00a.m.
At 14 she was diagnosed, treated and cured of Tuberculosis prior to discovery of pharmaceutical treatments. As a result of this event she pursued a career in nursing. She earned her Registered Nurse designation from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis then went onto the University of Missouri-Columbia to earn a BS in Nursing (1959).
She relocated to the Chicago area to work at the Hines Veteran's Administration Hospital. Through a mutual friend she was introduced to her future husband. On August 25, 1962 in Columbia, MO she was wed to Alvin J. Ohrenberg. They had two children Martin A. Ohrenberg and Ruth A. (Ohrenberg) White.
Al and Nina settled in Clarendon Hills, IL, for twelve years, to raise their family. She worked part-time for the Hinsdale Hospital. They relocated to Louisiana, MO, for a decade, where Nina and Al owned and operated a Hardware Store. They returned to Columbia, MO where she worked and retired from the Veterans Hospital.
She is proceeded into death by her husband; seven siblings; and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Martin A. Ohrenberg, Huntsville, AL; daughter, Ruth A (Ohrenberg) White; son-in law, Derek A. White; and the light of her life, granddaughter, Sarah M. White of Clarendon Hills, IL; her sister, Maxine Evans of Blytheville, AR; sister-in-law, Betty Martin of Wentzville, MO; brother-in-law, Herbert Ohrenberg of Sweet Springs, MO; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church of Clarendon Hills, IL. She enjoyed reading and traveling. Through her lifetime she was involved in various civic, professional and service organizations.
Donations can be made to the Salvation Army of Columbia, MO or the Community Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund of Clarendon Hills, IL.

Sympathy to Ruth and Martin from the Johnson family in Louisiana. We enjoyed the family here at First Presbyterian and Nina and I worked together many times. She was so pleasant and a good friend.
