Mary Ann McDonald
Born: June 11, 1923
Died: October 9, 2017
Mary Ann McDonald, otherwise known as Aunt Mimi, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017.
Mary Ann was born June 11, 1923, to Howard & Ruth Cornelius of Beverly, IL. She began volunteering shortly after graduating from Beverly High School with the American Red Cross as a nurse's aide. She married James J. McDonald on May 22, 1954. They moved to Western Springs where she continued to volunteer. She served her church First Congregational Church of Western Springs for over 50 years and Plymouth Place for over 45 years. In 1990 she was awarded the Volunteer of the Year by the State of Illinois. Her love for volunteering though did not come close to her love for family. Her many other loves in this life included: birds, blue and white dishes, camping, Christmas, and traveling, especially to Oklahoma to visit her nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, James; her parents, Howard and Ruth; and her sister, Helen Womble.
She is survived by her step-son, James (Laura) McDonald. Niece and Nephews, Bob (Lynne) Womble, Diane (David) Palmisano, Tom (Carmen) Womble, and Steve (Venita) Womble. Great Nieces and Nephews, Ainslee (Andy) Crum, Ty (UnMi) Womble, Nick Palmisano, Jenny Womble, Charlie (Janet) Palmisano, Ethan Womble, Luke Womble, Paige (Drew) Bodden, and Jessi Womble. Great-Great Nieces and Nephews, Caroline, Hudson, and Grayson Crum and Collier and Stetten Womble.
