Linda Ludwig

Obituary Condolences

LINDA LOUISE (MCKENZIE) LUDWIG Linda Louise (McKenzie) Ludwig, age 65, died peacefully in her home on June 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Linda, the eldest daughter of Ralph & Hazel McKenzie of Paris, Tennessee, was born on December 21, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. Linda lived in Michigan a very short time before moving to Tennessee, where her parents wanted to live and raise their family. She enjoyed her younger years with all of her extended family until around age 7, when Ralph took a job with State Farm in Illinois and the family moved to Burbank. It was there she met some of her lifelong friends. Linda moved to Darien, in her teenage years, and attended Downers Grove North High School, where she met her future husband, Glenn Ludwig. Linda shortly attended Northern Illinois University with Glenn, before getting married in 1968, and having their first child, Leigh Ellen, in 1969. Linda held a job as a secretary at Argonne National Lab for a while before having their second child, April Ann, in 1975. Linda worked for many years as a secretary at Glenn 's State Farm Agency, but her main job was that of homemaker and mother. She was involved as a parent helper in many of her daughters ' activities in their youth (including cupcake lady at Leigh 's grade school and Downers Grove Panther board member) and a more recent Bridge Community Volunteer at the First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove. Linda loved to read and was always looking for her next travel adventure. Her Southern roots were always at the forefront in her love of music, food, and some good ole ' iced tea. She put her family and friends first, and will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and her quick wit. We all love her for her patience and her gift of love. She is survived by her daughters, Leigh Ellen (Steven) Buehler and April (Nick) Katsafanas; sisters, Debbie Snow and Jan Mulacek, grandchildren, Lily Buehler & Jenny Buehler, Casey Katsafanas & Chris Katsafanas and husband, Glenn Ludwig. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Wellness House of Hinsdale, The Humane Society and Hope4paws.com
