Harry Thayer Mahoney, age 88, a resident of Wheaton since 1976, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Harry was born June 19, 1922 in Oak Park, IL. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. Harry was an attorney with Hinshaw & Culbertson; served 25 years with the C.I.A. and worked in Corporate Security for the McDonalds Corporation. Harry received his undergraduate degree from Elmhurst College and his law degree from Northwestern University. Harry and his wife, Marjorie, co-authored 13 books relating to espionage, intelligence and history. He enjoyed photography, fly fishing and watching old movies. As a child, Harry lived in many places around the world, and was fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marjorie (nee Locke); loving children Elizabeth (Rafael) Zuniga of Wheaton, Paul (Janelle) of St. Augustine, FL, Matthew (Sara) of Lake Bluff, IL and Sarah (Craig) Antas of Wheaton; 13 cherished grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Reid. Private services have been held. Arrangements were made by Leonard Memorial Home in Glen Ellyn, (630) 469-0032.
