I noticed George's obituary in the Tribune and it brought me back to my youth as an baseball player at Roosevelt High School where George and I were teammates on the baseball team. I was a shortstop with aspirations to be the next Chicago Cub's shortstop and, apparently, George wanted to be a player for the White Sox. I recall that George was a first baseman, perhaps a pitcher????. Neither one of us reached our goals, me because of an arm injury after high school and George by being drafted into the Navy. I recall George as a very affable person and teammate. May he rest in Peace.
