Faye Elizabeth Council, age 84, passed away peacefully at John Knox Village in Orange City, Florida on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

Mrs. Council was born November 24, 1932 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Lenore Ellison. She was united in marriage on August 23, 1953 to Jon D. Council, who preceded her in death. They lived for many years in Downers Grove, Illinois, where they raised their family, and Jon served as both Councilman and Mayor during the 70's and early 80's. They retired to Ormond Beach, Florida. Mrs. Council graduated from Garfield High School in Terre Haute, Indiana and attended Indiana University in Bloomington. She also earned a degree in library science from College of DuPage in Illinois. She and her husband were members of Christ Presbyterian Church of Ormond Beach, Florida. Mrs. Council was an active volunteer in various church groups and local genealogy, philanthropy, library and poetry organizations. She enjoyed gardening, collecting recipes, playing piano, word games and puzzles, and helping others. Her favorite charity was Family Renew Community in Holly Hill, Florida.

She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Caren (Dave Luurtsema) Sharp of Darien, Illinois, Gloria (Steven Leerskov) Council of Spring Green, Wisconsin, Maggie (Danny) DiPietra of Tampa, Florida; her brother, Craig (Joann) Ellison from Grayslake, Illinois; nieces, Carson Carr, Julie Ellison Skidds, Jennifer Ellison Norris; cousin, Harriet Scherer of Thousand Oaks California; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

To accommodate her wish to have her remains rest with those of her late husband Jon, a memorial service will be held on December 2 at Christ Presbyterian Church in Ormond Beach, Florida.
