Elsie Ganek (nee Javorski), age 96, a resident of Montgomery, IL for six years, formerly of Cicero, Downers Grove and Naperville, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Rush-Copley Medical Center, Aurora, IL. She was born March 17, 1918, in Racine, WI.
Beloved wife of the late Jerome S. "Jerry" Ganek, whom she married May 25, 1941, and who preceded her in death October 3, 2001; loving mother of Barry (Roberta) Ganek of Houston, TX, Rae Aszman of Montgomery, IL and the late Lee G. Ganek; adored grandmother of Todd and Bryan Ganek and Allyn Ann (Scott) Canavan, Heather Benson, Kelly (Mike) Ramey and Andrea Aszman; cherished great-grandmother of Jackson, Travis and the late Claire and Riley, Kyle and Katharine Kelly, Jake and Cole, Christian, Dakota, Dillon and the late Luke; devoted daughter of the late Alex and Isabelle Javorski; dear sister of the late Joseph Javorski; fond aunt and great-aunt of many, including Arlene Ganek, Dianna (Todd) Reeves & family and the late Wayne Ganek.
Elsie grew up in Downers Grove and Cicero, IL and attended Downers Grove High School and Morton High School. For many years Elsie helped her husband, Jerome, own and operate Ciracco Metal Fabricating in Countryside, IL and was former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Downers Grove. Elsie loved to paint, sculpt and enjoyed restoring antique cars with her husband. She will be remembered as a woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Wednesday, August 20, 10:00-11:30 A.M. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd, Plainfield, IL. Funeral Services was Wednesday, at 11:30 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment: Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
