Edmund Sadowski Obituary

Edmund H. Sadowski

Born: September 13, 1925

Died: June 26, 2017

Edmund H. Sadowski, 91, died on June 26, 2017 peacefully at his home with his beloved son Joe at his side.

Ed was born on September 13, 1925 in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood to Pearl and Edmund J. Sadowski. He attended Bowen High School in 1943 and immediately upon graduation served as an aviation cadet in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Ed obtained his law degree from DePaul University, where he met and later married Marie (n e Scribano). He was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court bar in 1958, though never practiced before the court. He worked as an attorney for the Illinois Department of Housing and Urban Development, as president of Century Savings and Loan in Chicago, and as a real estate attorney. He reluctantly gave up his law practice when he was in his late 80s. Ed always had his toolbox at hand and was known for his ability to fix anything...whether you wanted it fixed or not! He completely rehabbed their home in the Beverly neighborhood and until his final days kept their Darien home, his children's homes, and the family cottage in good working order.

Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Marie; they were married for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his devoted children, Joe and Maria; son-in-law, Rob Tanner; brother, Robert J. Sadowski; sister-in-law, Fran (the late Robert) Wall and her partner, Larry Stine; sister- and brother-in-law, Elaine and Jim Brunoldi; and nieces and nephews, Kathy (Dickie), Bob, and Tom Wall, and Jim and Terri Brunoldi.

In memory of Ed's love of tinkering and building, the family would deeply appreciate donations to the Indian Prairie Public Library Foundation to create a maker/inventor space for kids and teens. Tax-deductible donations welcome online at ipplfoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate-now or by mail to: IPPL Foundation, 401 Plainfield Road, Darien, IL 60561. Please mention that the donation is in memory of Ed Sadowski.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 9:00am until time of funeral mass 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 8404 S. Cass Ave. Darien, IL 60561. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

A group of law school buddies and their spouses use to socialize in the late fifties or early sixties. Ed and Marie were part of that group.Maybe Ed mentioned at some time in his life names of John Haderlein, Henry
Jankowicz, and Conrad Nagle. Those were the days.
My condolences to the family.
Conrad Nagle , age 92.
