Carolyn Marie Gore Obituary
Carolyn Marie Gore

Born: November 2, 1949; in Elmhurst, IL

Died: April 9, 2017; in Maryville, IL

Carolyn "Lynn" Marie Gore, nee Ruppel, 67, of St. Jacob, Ill., born Nov. 2, 1949, in Elmhurst, IL, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

Mrs. Gore graduated from West Leyden High School in 1967 and attended Monmouth College then Northern Illinois University, completing her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1971. She worked in insurance for a time, then stayed home for a few years to care for her children and sup-ported her husband's career through a period of frequent relocation.

She was a certified teacher and worked with children in several different capacities through-out the rest of her career. She had an endless patience and love for children. She liked to sew but was notorious for never completing her projects. She was an avid reader, a skilled, precise word-smith, and she encouraged curiosity, imagination, and a love of learning in those around her. While she was still able, she was active with Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, IL. where she raised her children together with her husband. They were a devoted couple, taking care of each other all the years of their marriage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Marvin Gore, whom she married Feb. 16, 1974 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Elmhurst, IL.; and her parents, George Bernard and Virginia Alma Theresa, nee Ross, Ruppel.

Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Seth) Schaefer of Collinsville, IL, and Christopher (Monica) Gore of St. Charles, Mo.; brother, Dr. James (Barbara) Ruppel, of Galesburg, IL; sisters, Patricia (the late Gary) Mukosey of Elmhurst, IL and Nancy (Michael) Weis of Willow Springs, IL; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
