Obituary

Alyssa Ramirez, a homecoming queen on her way home from prom, was killed Sunday by floodwaters in her hometown of Devine, Texas, according to multiple media reports. She was 18.

An obituary provided by the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine said Alyssa was the homecoming queen of Devine High School, where she also was a cheerleader who played tennis and volleyball.

She served as president of the student council and co-edited the high school yearbook, the obituary said.

Alyssa, who aspired to be an optometrist, "had deeply held beliefs in the Bible, which she often wrote about," according to the obituary.

Not sure what to say?

There are no words to express our deep love, respect and sympathy. All day, every day, my heart and prayers stay close to you. May our Great Physician touch you in an extra deep way, right now, (especially during this time of the year) as only HE can! Hugs and prayers

I send my deepest condolences to the family. When we suffer great pains there always seems like there is no relief to cope. King David felt the same way and recorded those feelings at the 55th Psalms. His words are quite soothing to the soul. May the peace of God be with you.-Philipians 4:6,7.

To the Ramirez Family: I was so saddened to hear of your loss. I am sure Alyssa was very much aware of God's promise of "a future and a hope" by means of his Son, Christ Jesus. My petition is that you find comfort in the account of Jarius' daughter at Mark 5:41-42. It assures us that there is a future for Alyssa in the promised Paradise.

Losing a loved one can bring much grief. Please accept my sincere condolences. I love the promise at Psalm 147:3, "He heals the broken hearted; He binds up their wounds." May it bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Our deepest sympathy to Alyssa's parents and all the people that knew her and loved her. This beautiful angel is in the loving arms of our heavenly
Father! Heaven is a beautifil place to be; especially with Jesus! I cried when I heard this story. :-( one day we will all see her again!!

I am very sorry for your loss. May God give you the strength to endure and heal your broken hearts. Psalm 29:11

I wanted to say how sorry I am about your beautiful Alyssa. I want to share something with you. I was worrying about some really stupid things. Then I read your story. I read about your love and faith. God used this tragedy to open my eyes. I hope this helps a little and I hope it reminds all of us that our God has a plan. I will be praying for your family and again, I am so sorry.
