Stella Banks Obituary

STELLA MARIE (GAIDES) BANKS, R.N. Stella Marie (Gaides) Banks, R.N., passed away July 20, 2013, in the comfort of her home. She was born December 2, 1926, in Baldwin, Michigan, the youngest of six children, to Frank and Hattie Gaides. Stella graduated from St. Ann 's Nursing School in 1948, earning her RN. Also in 1948, Stella married Robert G. Banks, Sr. and together raised five children. Living the majority of her adult life in Glen Ellyn, she was very active in the community with active roles in St. James Parish, St. Ann 's Nursing Club, Catholic Daughters, CDS Auxiliary, Lilac Garden Club, and her Bridge Club. Stella leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Banks, DDS; her children, Robert, Jr. (Claudia); Thomas, Sr. (Mary); Susan (Steve) Jones; Gregory (Ginger); and Valerie (Kirt) Haggard. She is also the loving grandmother of Jack (Emily) Jones; Steve, Jr. (Eli) Jones; Catie (Chris) Peterson, Thomas, Jr. Banks; Shannon (Dan) McCormick; Jeremy (Kate) Banks; John Banks; Jessie Richardson; Wendy (Jason) Mullins; Laura Banks; Nicole Haggard; and Abby Haggard. Stella also enjoyed her 16 great-grandchildren: Samantha, Ashley, Auston, Micah, Cole, Bennett, Logan, Luke, Radon, Emily, Grace, True, Connor, Kaedance, Audrey, and Xander. She also leaves behind her sister, Evelyn Grimm of California, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ben Gaides; Frank Gaides, Margaret Marek, and Frances Kipper. Visitation will be Thursday, July 25 th , 2013, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm at The Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn, IL. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, July 26 th , at St. James the Apostle Church, 480 S. Park Boulevard, Glen Ellyn, IL. Donations to Vitas.com and BVMcong.org are appreciated.
