Joan Grandy
Joan Grandy, 84, of Downers Grove, formerly Hinsdale, passed away on January 21, 2019. She will be missed by her loving extended family, and many that knew her.
Joan is survived by her sons, Todd (Stacey) Grandy of Ruxton, MD and Christian (Kelly) of Naperville; her grandchildren, Libby, Stratton, Owen, and Connor. As well, Joan is survived by her siblings, Ken Herman (MA), Sandy Sweitzer and Sharon Terry (both in OH).
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Bob Grandy.
Joan graduated from Fairview Park High School in Fairview Park, OH in 1952. In 1957 Joan married Bob, her high school sweetheart, and in the early 60's the couple moved from the Cleveland area to Hinsdale. Joan was very active in her son's schools, serving in the PTO, Cub Scouts and supporting her sons' rec and high school sports teams. In addition to time volunteering at school, Joan's passion was the welfare of animals, serving for nearly 20 years on the Board and Volunteering for the Hinsdale Humane Society. Joan moved to Downers Grove in 1985. She worked with a number of local businesses, and semi-retired, worked at St. Mary's Church where she was universally appreciated and cared for.
Services will be private; however the family asks in her memory that you consider donating to the Hinsdale Humane Society www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org/donate, or your favorite Animal Welfare Organization.

I will miss Joan and our weekly...sometimes daily...talks. We liked sharing ideas about cooking and current events. She will be deeply missed by all. I am so sorry for your loss. With deepest sympathy. Charlene
