Ann Krug Obituary

Ann Louise Krug

Ann Louise Krug (nee Ek) story starts on October 25, 1939. Born in Chicago, Ann was adopted from Augustana Nursery by Einar and Selma Ek.

It was recorded, "Ann went readily to her foster mother as if she had known her all the time. The Eks were so happy, they wept when they took her." Taking Ann to her new home in Waukegan, Illinois, Selma and Einar said she was shy but would allow anyone to wheel her in her buggy. After some years, the Eks moved to LaGrange Park, Illinois. Here Ann spent her childhood, made lifelong friends and went to school. Being from a proud Lutheran family, after high school, Ann went to Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. It was outside the backdoor of the Denkmann Library that Ann met her future husband, Robert J. Krug. On August 27, 1960, Ann married Bob at Grace Lutheran Church in LaGrange Park, Illinois.

In 1966 Ann's first child, Robert Blair, was born and in 1968 her second child, Karen Ann, was born. After living in Chicago, then Wauwatosa, Wisconsin for a brief period, Ann and Bob returned to the town Ann grew up in to raise their family. Ann made the family home a warm and loving place. A house filled with family and friends made her happy, she always made everyone feel taken care of and welcomed.

Working as a medical records consultant, Ann used her acute organizational skills to analyze resident charts to make sure the records were accurate and complete. There are many Directors of Nurses and other administrative personnel whose minds were put to ease when they knew "Ann Krug was coming in".

Later in life Ann discovered the love of travel. Travels with her children included Key West, Washington D.C., Antigua, Paris, and Quebec. Ann was very fond of the Southwest territory after traveling there many times with the Elderhostel group, but it was after her son moved to Nashville, Tennessee and she explored the trails and waterfalls, Ann fell in love with this region.

Becoming a Grandmother for the first time in 2001 with the birth of Caroline Ann, and again in 2004 after Kristen Blair was born, Ann took great joy in being a grandma. Any time Ann could read, play, or cook with her girls was a day she would never forget. Ann loved taking her granddaughters to the Morton Arboretum, teaching them about nature and watching them explore and squeal with delight as they ran through the Children's Garden.

Loved ones who passed prior to Ann were her husband, her father and mother.

Loved ones who will miss Ann until they meet again are her son, daughter, granddaughters; son-in-law, Scott Anderson; and brother, David Ek.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Thursday, October 5th.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to the Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois) Robert J. and Ann Louise (Ek) Krug Scholarship.

I have so many wonderful memories of Mrs. Krug. I was fortunate enough to have her as my mother-in-law. I remember when I first met her, I thought, "Wow, she is beautiful!" I soon found out she was just as beautiful on the inside. She was so easy to be around; she had such a calming presence. I loved being able to take walks with her through some of Nashville's trails, parks and art festivals. We shopped at the Cracker Barrel and bought the same jacket and again at Costco, and giggled about it the whole way home. She bought me my first real winter coat as an adult, having moved from Florida to TN, which I still have today and will never part with. She turned me onto shrimp fajitas and made the best Christmas cookies! I loved sitting on the couch with her watching Chef Ramsay, Shark Tank, or Project Runway and noshing on snacks. She took an interest in what was going on and sincerely appreciated what those around her had to offer. I could on and on. She was just a wonderful person, who will always live on in my heart. I love you, Mrs. Krug, a/k/a Momgee.
