Richard Albert Lavicka, 81, of Manteno, passed away December 28, 2012. Richard was born March 14, 1931 in Berwyn, IL to Albert and Rose (nee Koran) Lavicka. Richard was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married Judith Ann Webb on May 25, 1963 in Riverside, IL. He was the owner of Al's Service in Berwyn and was a member of the American Legion Post and North Berwyn Congregational Church in Berwyn, and St. Joseph Church in Manteno. Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, the Allies Club, the Kankanee Sportsman's Club, fishing, boating and camping. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judith; his children, Catherine (Bill) Evans, Susie (Jack) Bell and Caryn (Brian) Miller; and eight grandchildren, Joseph, Jack, Lauren, Andrew, Charles A. Sam, Charles E. and Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose Lavicka. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4th from 4-7pm at Brown Funeral Home, 21 N Main St., Manteno, followed by a 7pm funeral service with Father Al Heideike officiating, at the funeral home. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery in Manteno. Arrangements by Brown Funeral Home, (815) 468-8241.

Dear Judy, Cathy, Susan, Caryn and Family,
I am so very sorry for your great loss. Richard was a wonderful and energetic human being, with high degree of integrity and a great sense of humor, who will be missed by many. The loss of a person you love is very difficult to bear, no matter what the circumstances are. May your cherished memories of your life's journey together bring you some measure of peace.

Dearest Judy and Family,
I was saddened by the news of Rich's passing. I will always remember the many, many Saturday nights we spent together going to the "lounge" to listen to the organ music. We always had so much fun.
