Harry W. STomberski Born: May 10, 1928; Freeman Spur, IL Died: Nov. 16, 2013 ; Herrin, IL Harry William Stomberski, age 85, of Herrin, Illinois passed away at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Herrin Hospital. Harry was born May 10, 1928 in Freeman Spur, Illinois to Stanley and Della (Adela Ruginska) Stomberski. He married Dolores Marie Mudick November 20, 1949 in Royalton, Illinois. She survives in Herrin. Other survivors include two sons, Bradford (Sandra) of Glen Ellyn; Alan, of Indian Head Park; a daughter, Cynthia, of Willowbrook; a granddaughter, Michelle of Glen Ellyn; a sister, Irene Howell, of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Helen (Charles) Tolbert of Carterville; Anne-Marie (E.J.) Legan of Herrin; and, a brother-in-law, Robert (Jane) Zekovich of Christopher, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Marco and Mary Zekovich; two brothers, Frank and Alex; and, a sister, Sophie Murray. Harry retired after 30 years of employment from the Fisher Body Division of General Motors in Willow Springs. He loved his church and family very much. Any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad, which Harry loved being. Nobody could tell a story like him. Harry loved fishing, gardening, and tinkering around the house or following his beloved Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. Funeral services for Mr. Stomberski were held on November 19, 2013 in Royalton. Interment was in Royalton. Father Herman Kincaid will conduct a memorial service on December 21, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. at Saint Peter and Saint Paul Orthodox Church, 6980 South County Line Road, Burr Ridge, IL 60527. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Stomberski, are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 4503 W. De Young, St #200, Marion IL 62959.
