Edwin Krol Edwin Joseph Krol, age 90, of Des Plaines, passed away, Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late John and Sally Krol, on January 29, 1923, in Chicago. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen; his daughter, Gail (Tim) Stegenga; his three grandsons, Jason, Zach, and Andrew Stegenga; and his sister, Irene Kass. He was a World War II Veteran, and received a Bronze Star. He retired from Continental Can Company after 38 years. He was a loyal Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He was a generous, loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. We will always love and miss you, Dzia Dzia. Visitation will be held at Geils Funeral Home, 180 S. York Rd., Bensenville, IL on Friday, November 15, 2013, from 3:00 to 8:00pm, followed by a memorial service from 8:00 to 9:00pm. The funeral service will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15am, followed by the mass at 10:00am, at St. Stephen Protomartyr, 1267 Everett Ave., Des Plaines, IL. I am sorry to hear of the passing of Edwin. We will all be reunited one day! I am the granddaughter of Joseph and Mary Gawron, daughter of Lucille and Edward Gawron. Sophie and Bob Krol were my godparents.
